Are you FENSA registered?
All window installation now comes under building regulations. This ensures that the correct building standards are complied with. Things like ventilation, fire regulations and the use of safety glass are incorporated. If the installer is FENSA registered then it means they are independently monitored to ensure that the building regulations are complied with. Should a non FENSA registered company or individual install windows or doors then they would need to be passed by the buildings inspector.

Are your frames ALWAYS internally glazed?
Most top end installers will now use internally glazed windows and doors. Externally glazed products are a lot less secure and in some areas are still being sold.armaglaze_spacer
Are all doors and opening windows ALWAYS
fully steel reinforced?

Steel reinforcement in doors and opening windows is important as it means added strength for one but more importantly it means that the locking mechanisms are secured into steel and not just PVC.

Do all doors and windows have shoot bolt locking mechanisms?
Shoot bolts to doors and windows prevent jimmying. It is also very important that French doors have shoot bolts as this prevents them from being "pulled" open.

Do you ALWAYS use reinforced door panels?
In many cases door panels are sections of polystyrene between two plastic sheets. This is obviously very insecure and could be easily kicked through. We use panels
that are reinforced with a 12mm section of MDF. This gives much better security and rigidity.

Do you offer a 10 year guarantee?
If so does this include frames, glass and workmanship?

Most reputable companies offer a ten year guarantee. The important part is WHAT do they guarantee. We guarantee frames, glass and probably, most importantly, workmanship.

Is the guarantee fully transferable should you sell your
home? And if it is would there be a cost to transfer?

Should you choose to sell your home then it would be an advantage to confirm to the prospective buyer that the guarantee for the windows is transferable to them. In many instances this is not the case and if it is then there is often a fee for the transfer.

Are your installers PAYE Employed by your company or are they self employed sub-contractors?
In our opinion this is an important one. At Armaglaze our installers are fully PAYE EMPLOYED by the company and are paid a salary. In the majority of cases most other companies sub contract their labour. This gives them the option to "lay off" in times when business is slack and enables them to change teams around at short notice. The teams are also paid on a per window basis which encourages them to fit as quickly as they can to increase earnings. It is our belief that by employing our installers we get a higher quality finish to the job and it promotes greater loyalty to the company and its aims and goals.

Do you insist on a deposit up front or is it total payment on completion?
We have always believed that our customers should pay us once the job is complete. Too many times there have been stories of deposits being taken and then for one reason or another work does not commence. Again it shows our commitment to customer satisfaction.
